How do I set up my Slack Integration?

Follow along on the steps below, or feel free to watch this video for a guided set up experience.

Begin by ensuring that you have both a Divvy account and a Slack account that you want to connect.

  • Account Connection Steps (Admins Only)

  1. Click the Integrations icon on the left hand main navigation bar within Divvy.

  2. Locate the Slack integration tile. Click Connect.

  3. Click “Add Slack to Divvy”

  4. Slack will invite you to approve the integration. Once you approve, Divvy will be an app that’s available to be used within your Slack workspace.

At this point, Divvy is connected to your Slack workspace but each user will still need to give Slack permission and add the app to their own workspace.

  • Employee Connection Steps (Spenders)

  1. Navigate to your user profile settings in the Divvy app.

    1. On the web app, this is found by clicking your name in the bottom left corner of your screen and then clicking the Settings tab.

    2. On the mobile app, this is found by tapping the More menu in the bottom right of the screen, then tap your name on the top of your screen.

  2. Tap “Enable Slack Integration”

  3. You’ll be invited to approve the set up within Slack. Once you approve, you’ll be able to use your Divvy integration within Slack.

How do I use the Slack integration?

With the integration active, there are two basic Divvy tasks that you can do within Slack.

  • Requesting Funds

  1. Type /divvy into the Divvy app within Slack.

  2. Fill out the amount, the budget, and any necessary notes.

  3. Hit Submit.

  • Managing Fund Requests

If you have the Slack integration activated and you can approve or deny fund requests (i.e., you’re an Admin or Budget Owner), you’ll be notified within Slack. Here’s how to approve or deny them from Slack.

  1. The notification will come with the option to Approve or Deny.

  2. Click the correct button, and input any necessary notes.

The requester will be notified within Slack and within Divvy.

Who can use the Slack integration?

If you have Divvy and Slack, you’re welcome to set up and use the integration.

Does the integration cost money?

Just like Divvy, the Slack integration is free to use for all customers.

Can I connect my Slack workspace to multiple Divvy accounts?

The Divvy Slack integration works on a 1:1 set up. One Divvy account is able to integrate with one Slack instance.

Where do I type my Slack commands?

You can type Divvy slack commands into any command line in Slack. This could be a group message, a message to yourself, a channel, or a private message. No matter where you type your command, the record of the requests and approval will show in the Divvy App within Slack. Don’t worry, your Slack message will always be a private message between you and the budget owner or admin, even if you do the Slack command in a group message.
